Welcome

My name is JAN SAMMUT and I’m a mental health care practitioner and life coach based in Gloucestershire, United Kingdom.

I practice in the fields of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Clinical Hypnosis, Mindfulness-Based Interventions, Effective Communication, and Neuro-Psychotherapy.

Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to explore my website. I encourage you to delve into the information presented here, and should you find that my expertise aligns with your needs or those of a loved one, I invite you to reach out for a consultation.

My practice is characterised by a deep-seated understanding of the complex interplay among the mind, body, relationships, and environment. Utilising a wide spectrum of evidence-based therapeutic techniques, I aim to offer an integrative and individualised approach to address each client’s unique concerns.

My journey, both personally and professionally, has afforded me a rich tapestry of experiences dealing with emotional turmoil—both in myself and in others. I understand how even minor stressors or subtle shifts in emotion can derail one’s well-being, casting a shadow over what might otherwise be fulfilling days or leading to prolonged periods of anxiety and dissatisfaction.

Anger, sadness, fear, shame—these and other potent emotions are the consequential byproducts of our thought patterns. While we may not have the power to dictate our feelings, we possess the unequivocal ability to alter the thoughts that perpetuate emotional suffering.

Resilience is not cultivated in moments of ease, but rather in the capacity to thrive amid constant change and unpredictability—a capacity inherently present within each of us.

Emerging scientific evidence suggests that stress hormones can have detrimental effects on our genetic makeup, potentially leading to long-term illnesses. Remarkably, due to the complexity of the human neocortex, we possess the capability to trigger stress responses solely through cognition. This underscores the profound influence our thoughts can have on our physical well-being. However, if thoughts have the capacity to harm, they also hold the potential for healing.

With more than three decades of experience in high-performance corporate settings, I am intimately acquainted with the day-to-day pressures individuals may face. The good news is that impactful change is attainable without necessarily requiring years of therapy.

Over a century and a half of cognitive behavioural techniques, along with contemporary coping strategies for mental and emotional distress, are readily accessible for those who wish to regain control over their lives and establish a balanced mental landscape.

Moreover, research corroborates the efficacy of augmenting these approaches with hypnosis to enhance therapeutic outcomes. My overarching mission is to guide individuals in mastering these transformative skills through a collaborative journey aimed at healing and self-betterment.

Small shifts in thought patterns and behaviors can serve as catalysts for a more fulfilling life. It’s important to remember that you are not isolated in your struggles with emotional challenges. Emotional distress is a universal experience, but when it becomes unmanageable and chronic, proactive steps must be taken.

“You have power over your mind – not outside events. Realise this, and you will find strength.”

Marcus Aurelius

Drawn from firsthand experience witnessing the transformative power of our cognitive potential and innate capabilities—which are abundant in each of us—I have come to appreciate the remarkable ease with which life’s challenges can be managed. Activating these inner resources paves the way for a life filled with greater happiness and fulfillment. This realisation crystallised my life’s mission: to help individuals uncover and harness their latent strengths, thereby liberating them from the incapacitating effects of potent negative emotions like fear, anxiety, and anger.

“It is not what happens to you that matters, but how you take it.”

My approach blends the powerful synergy of cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy with mindfulness techniques, all underpinned by the scientific rigour of neuropsychotherapy. This amalgamation has yielded exceptional outcomes in addressing a wide range of emotional and psychological issues, including anxiety, stress, PTSD, depression, phobias, and more.

Over the course of the last 15 years, I have had the privilege of mentoring and empowering a diverse clientele, from aspiring entrepreneurs and established business leaders to recent graduates. This evolving professional journey has solidified my true vocation: advocating for mental wellness by providing expert therapeutic guidance, life coaching, and essential coping strategies.

“If therapy can be defined as the devoted care for another, then we all act as therapists in the lives of those we cherish. At the core of every competent therapist resides an unwavering commitment to fostering mental well-being.”

In my own journey, I have traversed the formidable terrain of emotional and existential challenges, not unlike many of you. I have known the crushing sorrow of losing a parent during my formative years and later faced the paralysing grip of depression that claimed another. Instances of emotional and physical torment marked my younger years, and I have endured deceit and betrayal from a partner I once trusted. Most recently, my well-being was jeopardised by an unethical employer, adding another layer to my understanding of emotional distress.

If you recognize elements of your own story in mine, let me assure you: you are not alone. Through the utilisation of Cognitive Behavioral Training, meditation, and self-hypnosis, I have found sanctuary and healing. These practices have provided me with emotional and spiritual equilibrium, enabling me to tap into an inner reservoir of strength and peace.

“To know even one live has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”

My ultimate objective is to extend to you the proven benefits of cognitive behavioral hypnotherapy, mindfulness, and problem-solving methodologies. These tools have the potential to empower you in overcoming life’s inevitable difficulties and concerns.

While vulnerability may accompany the disclosure of our struggles, it is also the pathway to acquiring the necessary support and intervention. I am committed to offering steadfast guidance and instruction throughout our therapeutic alliance. The skills you acquire during our sessions will equip you to become your own pillar of healing and wisdom, enabling you to face life’s challenges with increased resilience and fortitude.

It’s important to acknowledge that not everyone responds to hypnosis in the same manner. While no therapist can guarantee universal success, what I can assure you is a sanctuary of unconditional acceptance—where your pain, sorrow, shame, guilt, anger, grief, and joy are all welcome.

Please note that if you have epilepsy or are undergoing psychiatric treatment you may need a referral letter from your doctor prior to having hypnotherapy.
